Our Mission & Purpose

The purpose of the St. Aloysius CYO basketball program is to provide an opportunity for young people to play basketball in a structured environment. We are here to foster the development of the whole child in the sense of a sound mind in a sound body.

Through this goal we strive to offer a high-quality basketball experience within an age appropriate competitive environment. We aim to do this in the most pleasant and safe surroundings available and with the complete cooperation and support of those adults who share our aims for our young people.

Note this team is separate from the Trinity Academy basketball program.  For Trinity Academy basketball please go here.

Our Approach

League Information & Team Composition

Practice starts in early November (games start early December) with the season ending in March. New for 2019-2020, St. Aloysius CYO will be playing in the Essex County CYO League, part of the Archdiocese of Newark CYO program.

All home games will be on Sundays at the Trinity gym starting at 1:30 PM to about 6:30 PM.  Away games can be any day of the week.  A complete regular season schedule will be available before the season starts.

Rookie (Grade 2):  We are not sure yet if Essex County CYO will be offering a 2nd grade division.

Pee Wee (Grades 3 & 4):  Teams play a 12+ game semi-competitive travel. This is a developmental program with the emphasis on having fun while teaching the players the fundamentals of the game.

Varsity (Grades 7 & 8):   Teams will play a 12+ game competitive travel schedule.

All levels listed above have separate boys and girls divisions.

Following the end of their regular season, teams in the Pee Wee, Junior Varsity, Varsity, will have playoffs (1 to 3 additional games).
