Registration Eligibility

The CYO Basketball program is open to Girls and Boys in grades two (2) through twelve (12) that meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled in the CCD Program at St. Aloysius in Caldwell, Notre Dame in North Caldwell, or Blessed Sacrament in Roseland.
  2. The Student-Athlete is a registered student at Trinity Academy AND no school team is available to play on in that year.
  3. With permission from the league, students at other nearby Catholic Schools or CCD programs that are in the Archdiocese of Newark can also be eligible if their parish or school does not offer a CYO or school basketball program.

The registration fee for the 2018-2019 season is $150.

Location

St. Aloysius CYO Basketball practices and plays its home games in the gym at Trinity Academy in Caldwell NJ.

The gym is located at 219 Bloomfield Ave, Caldwell NJ 07006.

League Information & Team Composition

The regular season for St. Aloysius starts in early November and ends in March. We play in the Union County CYO League a part of the Archdiocese of Newark CYO program.

Rookie (Grade 2):  Teams play a 6 to 8 non-competitive game travel schedule on weekends.  This is an instructional program with the emphasis on having fun while introducing the players to the game.

Pee Wee (Grades 3 & 4):  Teams play a 12 game semi-competitive travel schedule on weekends.  This is a developmental program with the emphasis on having fun while teaching the players the fundamentals of the game.

Junior Varsity (Grades 5 & 6): Teams will play a 12 game competitive travel schedule on weekends.

Varsity (Grades 7 & 8):   Teams will play a 12 game competitive travel schedule on weekends.

High School (Grades 9 thru 12):   Teams will play a 10 game competitive travel schedule on weekends. These teams will be made up of student-athletes who are not playing on their high School Freshman, JV or Varsity basketball team

All levels listed above have separate boys and girls divisions.

Following the end of their regular season, teams in the Pee Wee, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and High School divisions will have playoffs (1 to 3 additional games).
